Important Things to Do In Preparation for your move

When Buying or Selling a home time can be scarce, our job is to make this process as stress free and comfortable as possible. Upon buying or selling a home you will need to ensure that a variety of items are taken care of prior to closing; please refer to the list below for items that will need to be handled before closing.

Utilities

When selling your home it is very important that you contact all utility companies to ensure that they are aware that you have sold (or bought). You will need to give them the closing date, so that they will know when to transfer the billing into the new owners name and possibly provide them with the new owners name (noted on Agreement of Purchase and Sale). It is best to do this 2-3 weeks prior to closing as if you call before then they often request you call back closer to closing.

Property Tax

This will be taken care of by your lawyer, but we do suggest you mention it to them to ensure that it has been handled by them.

City Water

This will very often be taken care of by your lawyer, but we do suggest you mention it to them to ensure that it has been handled by them.

Bell, Rogers, Etc.,Alarm Company, Furnace Oil Provider if on Oil Heat, Rental Items Like Hot Water Tank or other Providers would need to be called with contact info: provided on their repective bills/invoices.

Home Insurance

When selling or selling and buying remember to call your insurance company at least several weeks before closing to advise them.
